Andrew Higginson, Chairman of Morrisons, has been appointed as President of IGD, the research and training charity, by its Board of Trustees.
Already an active member of IGD’s Policy Issues Council, Andrew Higginson succeeds IGD’s current President, Leendert den Hollander, with effect from 1st January 2019.
Andrew Higginson, Chairman of Morrisons, said:
“I am delighted and honoured to be taking up the Presidency of IGD and working closely with the trustees and the executive team. I have been involved with IGD over many years and I am looking forward to contributing to its important work for such an exciting and dynamic sector of the economy.”

Recent highlights of IGD’s work include:
Launch of industry wide food waste measurement principles and Roadmap for implementation, working collaboratively with Wrap. This is a world first with the UK food industry committing to halve food waste
25,000 students trained in employability skills through Feeding Britain’s Future with the support of over 200 companies and 5,500 industry volunteers.
On track to deliver 22,000 free learning opportunities for food and grocery employees in 2018
