Leading e-commerce software developer Optiseller is on a mission to help online retailers get their data in good shape so they can attract more customers and optimise their sales.
One major issue is duplicate listings and the company has developed a software tool to identify and eliminate duplicate listings.
eBay has been urging retailers for some time to avoid duplicate listings as this impacts the shopping experience for buyers visiting the site. However in this year’s Autumn Seller Release, eBay announced that it is now cracking down hard on the incidence of duplicates with affected retailers facing their entire inventory being demoted in search results. Some sellers have even had their listings taken down and been asked to correct before re-listing.
Optiseller’s Duplicate Listing Tool carries out a full audit of the retailer’s listings and flags up any duplicates. The retailer can then take remedial action to resolve the problem. It also allows the retailer to keep the listings with the best sales history that ensure better search rankings and a better chance of sales conversions.
The Duplicates Listing Tool comes as part of a suite of online optimisation tools which are available for a monthly subscription starting at £125 per month.
Craig MacCallum, CEO of Optiseller said: “With many retailers having hundreds of thousands and sometimes millions of listings it can be very easy to miss duplicate listings. In many cases it may be an innocent mistake. However, eBay has signalled that breaches of its policy will no longer be tolerated and tougher action will be taken.
“Our software enables sellers to review all their listings based on values such as EAN, brand, SKU etc. We’ll then provide a list of the duplicate listings the seller can download and act on, so they can get back to focusing on driving their business forwards.”
